What's Being Built at Main and River Road

Midway is about to become a two-stoplight town. Construction is underway on a new traffic signal at the intersection of Main Street (S.R. 113) and River Road (400 E) — the town's primary access point from the north and east.

What's changing

Along with the new four-way signal, the intersection will gain dedicated turn lanes, new crosswalks, bike lanes, and curb and gutter work. UDOT says the upgrade has been in the works for a couple of years, driven by growing traffic demand as Midway has become more of a destination, thanks in part to Main Street draws like Ballerina Farm and the local theater.

What it means for residents

Expect reduced speeds, occasional lane shifts, and 5 to 10 minute delays during weekday daytime construction hours, with some Saturday work as needed. Pedestrian access stays open throughout, and two-way travel resumes during non-working hours. The project carries a price tag of roughly $7.5 million and has a targeted completion date this August.
